Skillit
Terms of Service
What you are buying, what we owe you, and what we ask of you. Written in plain words on purpose — an agreement nobody can read is not much of an agreement.

Thirty days of honest effort before anybody goes near a court.
These terms
Skillit is an online learning platform run by Skillit Platform in the Kingdom of Bahrain. These terms are the agreement between you and us.
By making an account or paying for a community you confirm you have read and accepted them. If you do not accept them, please do not use Skillit.
This agreement is made electronically, and is legally valid and binding under the laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain exactly as a signed paper one would be.
We may change these terms. If a change affects what you are paying for, we tell you before it applies and you may cancel if you do not accept it.
What the words mean
| Word | What we mean by it |
|---|---|
| Skillit, we, us | Skillit Platform, and the website at skillit-bh.com |
| Community | A subject taught on Skillit by one tutor: its lessons, assignments, discussion and live sessions |
| Member, you | Anyone with a Skillit account, whether or not they are paying for a community |
| Tutor | The person who runs a community and writes its material |
| Material | Everything inside a community: videos, files, assignments, text |
What Skillit is, and is not
We build and run the platform, take the payments, and pay the tutors. Tutors teach. They decide what is in their community, write the lessons and hold the sessions.
We choose who we let teach here and we can remove a community that is not good enough. But we do not write the material and we do not sit in the sessions — so we cannot promise that any particular course will suit you, and what you get out of one depends on the work you put in.
Where a tutor makes a claim about their community, that claim is theirs.
Who can use Skillit
Skillit is for people aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian has to agree before you make an account and before any payment is taken — and by making one you confirm they have.
A parent or guardian who agrees accepts these terms alongside you, including responsibility for what is paid.
You also need to be able to enter an agreement where you live. If we find an account belongs to somebody under 13, we close it and delete what we hold.
Your account
One person, one account. Give us true details and keep them current. Holding more than one account — to get round a limit, a price or a decision of ours — is a breach of these terms, and we may merge or close the extras.
Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so tell us at once if you think somebody else has got into it.
One device at a time. Signing in somewhere new signs you out everywhere else. That is deliberate: it is what keeps one subscription being used by one person, and it is part of what keeps the price where it is.
Sharing a login so several people can use one subscription is a breach of these terms, and we may suspend an account we reasonably believe is being shared.
What you are buying
A community is a monthly subscription. It renews on the same date each month until you cancel, and each renewal is charged automatically to the payment method you gave us.
While it is active you may watch that community’s lessons, join its discussions, hand in its assignments and attend its live sessions. You are buying access for as long as you keep paying — not a copy of the material, and not lifetime access.
Prices are set in Bahraini Dinars. You may see them converted to another currency for convenience; the charge itself is taken in Dinars, and your own bank may add a fee for that.
Communities change. Tutors add lessons, retire old ones and adjust what they run. We do not promise that a particular lesson or session will still be there next month.
Paying, renewing and cancelling
We take the first payment when you join, then the same amount on the same date each month. We send a reminder before each renewal, so a charge is never a surprise.
Cancel whenever you like, from your account. One click, nothing to phone about, and nobody will try to talk you out of it. You keep access to the end of the month you have already paid for, and you are not charged again.
If a payment fails we try again and tell you. If it keeps failing, access pauses until it is settled.
Before you subscribe
There is no trial period and no money-back window, so please look before you pay.
Every community page tells you what is inside it, who teaches it, how often sessions run and what other members thought. Where a community offers a free preview lesson, it is there for exactly this reason — use it.
If something is unclear before you join, ask us. We would rather answer a question than take a payment somebody regrets.
Refunds, in short
- Cancel whenever you like and keep access to the end of the month you paid for.
- A payment taken in error comes back, whenever we find it. There is no time limit on our own mistakes.
- A month already served is not refunded, because the subscription was there to use.
- The exceptions below are real ones, not decoration.
When we do refund a renewal
We will refund a month you have paid for if:
- you cancelled and were charged anyway;
- you were charged twice for the same month;
- the community closed during the month you paid for;
- the community was effectively unusable for most of that month — no tutor, no answers, nothing new — and you tell us within it.
You do not have to argue any of these. If one of them happened, say so and we will sort it.
Refunds when a community closes
When a community is closing we stop taking payments immediately and you keep access until the closing date. You are never charged for time after a community closes, so in the normal case there is nothing to refund.
If one closes earlier than the date you were given, we refund the unused part of what you paid, worked out by day.
Live sessions
Live sessions are part of a community rather than something sold separately, so a session you miss is not refundable on its own.
If a tutor cancels a session and does not hold it again within a reasonable time, tell us and we will look at the month it fell in.
What we do not refund
- Time you did not use. A subscription is available to you whether you open it or not.
- A month already served, beyond the exceptions above.
- A change of mind after the month has run.
- An account we closed for sharing logins, copying material or abuse.
- Bank charges or currency conversion your own bank applied.
How to ask for a refund
Write to info@skillit-bh.com from the address on your account, and say which community and roughly what happened. Nothing formal is needed.
We answer within three working days. An approved refund goes back to the card or account it came from, and normally arrives within seven to fourteen days depending on your bank. We cannot send it anywhere else.
If we say no, we say why, and you can ask a person to look again.
Please ask us before your bank
If something looks wrong on your statement, tell us first. Almost every case is a duplicate charge or a cancellation that did not go through, and we can fix it the same week.
Raising a chargeback with your bank instead costs us a fee even when we agree with you, and takes months to resolve. While one is open we may suspend access to the community it concerns. If it is decided in your favour we will not chase you for it — but a pattern of chargebacks instead of conversations will end an account.
Things outside anyone’s control
Sometimes something happens that neither of us can do anything about: a national outage, a failure at a service we depend on, a natural disaster, or a government restriction.
Where that stops us delivering something you paid for, we are not in breach of this agreement — but we will tell you what happened and put it right where we reasonably can. If a community cannot run at all because of it, you are refunded for the time you cannot use.
The material is not yours to pass on
Everything inside a community — videos, files, assignments and text — belongs to the tutor who made it, or to us. You may use it to learn.
You may not download, copy, record, screen-capture, re-publish, resell or share it, and you may not give your login to anybody else. Lesson videos are served through links that expire and are tied to your account, and your name is shown on screen while you watch.
We take this seriously because it is the whole business: a tutor who finds their course on a group chat stops teaching. Breaking it means access removed without a refund, and it may be a matter for the courts.
Do your own work
Assignments are marked automatically and count towards your points and badges. They only mean anything if the work is yours.
Do not share answers, hand in someone else’s work as your own, or use a second account to take the same assignment twice. We may reset points, remove badges or close an account for it.
Discussing a problem with the group is not cheating — it is the point of a community. Copying an answer is.
What you post
You keep ownership of what you write. By posting it you give us and the tutor permission to show it inside that community, and to leave it there if you later go.
Do not post anything unlawful, abusive, hateful, sexual, misleading or fraudulent. Do not post other people’s private information. Do not advertise, recruit or sell — yours or anybody else’s.
We may remove a post and suspend an account for any of that. You can report a post from the page it is on.
Telling us about something
If you believe material on Skillit infringes your copyright, or a post breaks these terms, write to info@skillit-bh.com with a link to it, what is wrong, and how to reach you.
We look at every report. Where a complaint is credible we take the material down while we sort it out, and we tell whoever posted it so they can answer. Somebody who repeatedly posts material that is not theirs loses their account.
Please do not use this to settle an argument. A report made in bad faith is itself a breach of these terms.
Skillit’s own property
The Skillit name, logo, design and software are ours. Nothing in these terms gives you the right to use them.
You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer or redistribute any part of the platform, scrape it, or build a competing service out of it. You may link to Skillit, and you may say you learn here.
If you teach on Skillit
Your material stays yours. You keep the copyright in everything you make. You give us permission to host it, show it to the members of your community, and use short extracts to promote that community on Skillit and its own channels — nothing more. We do not sell it, license it on, or use it to train anything.
You are paid a share of what your community earns. The split, the schedule and the statement are in your dashboard. You must give us a valid IBAN before a payout can be made. Payouts are made against a closed monthly statement, not on request.
You are not our employee. You decide what to teach and when to hold sessions, and you handle your own tax on what you earn.
Do not take the members off the platform. Member details are for running your community, not for selling to them directly or moving them elsewhere.
You are responsible for what you publish: that it is yours to publish, that it is accurate, and that it puts nobody at risk. If you hold a licence or permission your subject requires, keeping it current is your responsibility.
Refunds and your earnings
When a member is refunded, the amount comes off your earnings for that community — from the next statement if it has already been paid out.
Refunds that arise from our mistake are ours, not yours, and are not deducted from you. The same goes for a chargeback caused by a fault on our side.
When a community closes
A community can close because a tutor stops teaching or because we end it. Only Skillit can end a community. A tutor who wants to stop contacts us and we handle it — nobody closes a room full of paying members with one click.
When a community is set to close: it stops taking new members straight away, everyone inside is told the date, no further payments are taken, and access continues to that date.
Ending a community does not touch the tutor. Their profile, their record and anything already earned stay as they are — somebody may stop because they are ill, and they should be able to come back.
Suspending an account, removing a community
We may suspend or close an account that shares logins, copies or redistributes material, abuses members or tutors, cheats on assignments, or tries to get round payment.
Where it is fair, we warn you first and give you a chance to put it right. For serious cases — redistributing paid material, for example — we act at once and without a refund.
We may also remove or suspend a community that breaks these terms or falls below the standard we expect. Where that happens, the members inside it are refunded for time they cannot use.
You can close your own account whenever you like, from your account page.
What we do not promise
We work hard to keep Skillit up, but we do not promise it will never be down. We may take it offline for maintenance, and we avoid doing that during a scheduled session where we can.
Beyond what these terms say, the platform is provided as it is, without further warranties. We do not promise a particular result from a course.
Our responsibility to you
If we get something wrong and it costs you money, what we owe you is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim.
We are not responsible for indirect losses — lost income, lost opportunity, lost time.
Nothing here excludes liability the law does not allow us to exclude, including for fraud or gross fault as defined by the Bahraini Civil Code, or for death or personal injury.
If something you did causes us a claim
If somebody brings a claim against us because of what you posted, what you published as a tutor, or your breaking these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs in dealing with it.
This is not a trap for ordinary use. It is here for the rare case where somebody uploads material that is not theirs and the owner comes to us.
Services we rely on
Skillit uses other companies for particular jobs: a video service for live sessions, a payment provider for card payments, Google if you choose to sign in with it, and hosting, email and messaging providers.
Those services have their own terms and we do not control them. If one has an outage or changes what it offers, it may affect Skillit, and we will do what we reasonably can to limit the effect on you. How your information reaches them is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Your consumer rights
Nothing here removes any right you have under the consumer protection law of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Where this agreement and the law disagree, the law wins.
Sorting out a disagreement
If something goes wrong between us, write to info@skillit-bh.com first. We give it thirty days of honest effort to settle it directly, and almost everything is settled that way.
If it cannot be, these terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the courts of Bahrain have exclusive jurisdiction.
The rest of the small print
- If one part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
- Not enforcing something once does not mean we have given it up.
- These terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us.
- You may not transfer your account to somebody else. We may transfer this agreement if Skillit is sold or reorganised, and you will be told first.
- Nothing here makes us partners, or either of us the other’s agent or employer.
- We contact you by email and inside the site, and that counts as writing.
- Where a tutor has a separate written agreement with us, that agreement governs their relationship with us where the two differ.
Something here not sitting right?
Tell us before it becomes a problem. Write to info@skillit-bh.com and a person will answer — we would rather change a line than argue about one.
